Thapasya Arts San Francisco is proud to present Samanwayam 2025, a spectacular two-day celebration of South Indian classical arts, music, and cultural heritage, to be held in the vibrant heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. Following the resounding success of Samanwayam 2023, which drew widespread acclaim for its artistic excellence and authentic presentation, the upcoming 2025 edition promises to elevate the experience to even greater heights.
The word Samanwayam means "harmony" – a perfect reflection of this event’s mission: to bring together diverse art forms in a single, unified cultural expression. As part of a broader national tour organized by Thapasya Arts, Samanwayam 2025 will showcase the richness, depth, and beauty of traditional South Indian performance arts through meticulously curated programs spanning music, dance, theatre, and martial arts.

Keleeravam 2025 brings to the Mountain House the rare chance to experience Kathakali, Kerala’s legendary dance-drama known for its vivid colors, powerful storytelling, and divine intensity. For one special evening, master performers from Kerala will bring to life the beloved stories of Kuchela Vritham and Kiratham through expressive gestures, rhythmic movement, and live music that stirs the soul.
The name Keleeravam means “the sound of festivity,” capturing the joy and grandeur of this occasion. Every detail, from the ornate costumes and striking makeup to the timeless tales of devotion and valor, makes this performance not just an art show, but a window into Kerala’s cultural heart.
Kuchelavritham: The story recounts Kuchela’s visit to Lord Krishna’s grand palace in Dwarka to seek assistance. His humble gift of beaten rice, offered with deep devotion, is received with immense affection and divine grace. On returning home, Kuchela finds his once-impoverished dwelling transformed into a palace.
Kiratham: This narrative depicts Arjuna’s intense penance to obtain divine weapons from Lord Shiva, who appears in disguise as a hunter (Kattalan). Known for its earthy verses and devotional depth, the play is frequently staged in Shiva temples. It culminates in Arjuna’s humility and Lord Shiva’s bestowal of the powerful Pashupatastra weapon.
Kathakali is one of Kerala’s most treasured art forms, yet today it struggles to find the visibility and support it deserves. Keleeravam 2025 is our way of keeping this tradition alive, by bringing world-class artists all the way from Kerala to share their craft, their stories, and their passion with us.
This event is more than a performance. It’s a chance to experience the power of live storytelling, to connect with a culture that has been passed down for centuries, and to support the very artists who dedicate their lives to preserving it.
Every ticket directly supports the performers and their journey. By joining us, you’re not just watching Kathakali, you’re helping keep it alive for future generations.
Come be part of this celebration of art, devotion, and community.
